It depends on the formulation. Most serums and actives need a cool chain that keeps them below the temperature where oxidation and isomerization accelerate. Probiotic and live-culture skincare needs true 2–8°C refrigeration. We spec against your formulation rather than the category.
What happens to vitamin C serum in a hot shipment?
L-ascorbic acid oxidizes, which degrades potency and typically discolors the product. A customer receiving a browned serum will assume the product is defective — and functionally they are right.
